Anytime you can make something from scratch, make it from scratch. That includes seasonings. Store-bought seasonings are so often made with additives – sugar, ‘natural’ flavour, maltodextrin (a highly processed ingredient), amongst other ingredients.
Sure, it might take a bit longer to make, but the taste and nutritional value of fresh ingredients far surpasses that of processed, packaged goods – any time, any day. And sure, you could argue that these are dried ingredients so not exactly fresh, but at least this recipe ONLY consists of the dried herbs and nothing else.
By the way, if you price this out, it’s cheaper to make your own taco seasoning because you can use all of these herbs and spices in other recipes as well – hint, hint!
