Full disclosure, I was not a fan of Mary’s Organic Crackers when they first came out. However, there was also a time when organic wine wasn’t all that great and look at it now!
Today, I’m a fan of the entire Mary’s Crackers product line. I’m also a fan of the story behind why it started. The brand was started by Mary, who, at 43 years of age, discovered she had celiac disease. Celiac disease causes an inflammatory response when consuming gluten, which is a protein found in wheat, barley, rye and most oats (You can remember these with the acronym BROW – barley, rye, oats and wheat).
So what did Mary do? Like any passionate entrepreneurial spirit eager to help others, she started baking crackers in her kitchen until she perfected the recipe, and voilá, you have Classic, Original and Basil & Garlic options.
